Tiny Art Show Takes Over the Arts Council!
It was all about art, and tiny art to be exact, on First Friday, December 6th, 2024!
This small-scaled show was curated by Jami Faith of Elsewise Art and is currently featured at the St. Mary’s County Arts Council (SMCAC) Gallery & Gift Shop now through Saturday, December 21st.
Visitors at the Opening Reception had the opportunity to view a variety of colorful and creative art pieces while enjoying holiday tunes by local musician Doc Lohn.
With over 50 artists participating and slightly over 100 entries, this not-so-itty-bitty exhibit drew a large number of entries from a wide range of age groups.
The chosen media included macrame, drawings and paintings, intricately folded paper, beaded bracelets, dioramas, needle felted baby bunnies, and much more.
Jami Faith, who herself is an artist as well as the owner of a studio and workshop space right above the Arts Council, stated that she had seen small themed shows in the past and very much wanted to create a similar experience right here in Leonardtown. The call for art was met with an enthusiastic response by our local community members!
The timing was also perfect for the unveiling of our new sign which dedicates this gallery wall to Barbara Bershon, the immediate Past President of SMCAC.
Barbara is gratefully recognized for her many years of service as both a general board member and officer of St. Mary’s County Arts Council, as well as for serving as a liaison with the Maryland State Arts Council.
Be sure to stop by and see what all of the big excitement is about! The Tiny Art Show is open during regular gallery hours of 11 AM to 4 PM Wednesday thru Saturday. We also offer free gift wrapping!
Please note that there are more pieces than featured below. Stop by in person to see them all!
